PHILOSOPHY

Parents are the child’s first teacher. We wish to provide a casual, yet warm inviting family atmosphere, in which children and their families feel comfortable and truly enjoy themselves.

Discovery is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of the total child. Learning through play in our nature setting where learning is fun and environments are realistic and nature based, Discovery provides a variety of carefully selected creative learning activities which are based on the child’s individual needs and interest. Each child’s development is guided through a program of stimulating, concrete experience and through timely and appropriate interjection of ideas and high order questioning. We strive to spark the growth of positive self-concepts and development of confidence and independence and true character building. We believe the families of our children consider us an extention of the family that provides security, stablility and trusted care and love. We are committed to providing a happy and healthy environment where love is abundant and communication is open and welcomed.

MISSION STATEMENT

Since 1968, Discovery School and Camp has been dedicated to fulfilling the needs of the total child. Our mission is to blend the emotional, cognitive and physical aspects of the child into a whole person. Learning through play, at child centered learning stations and hands-on experiences, is the cornerstone of our program. We advocate proper nutrition, improved health and daily interaction with nature and the environment.
